Bio – Nicole Alexander
Nicole Alexander defined herself as a Creative Director/Producer with her controversial, multi-media Helpmann-award winning stage production of Dead Man Walking written by Terrence McNally. She recently collaborated again with Terrence on a screen adaptation of Master Class based on his Maria Callas play, and has continued to successfully transition into the scripted arena as an “exciting new talent to watch”.
Nicole is an Australian transplant to America by way of NYU’s film program and has worked as an award-winning director, producer, cinematographer, and editor across the film & television, live event, music, and new media platforms. As a former classically trained opera singer at the Sydney Conservatorium, music and sound design are at the core of all her storytelling – her skills as a musician translating into her signature directing and editing style.
Alexander spent several formative years as a Director/Creative-Producer at MTV and 1iota, and in 2016 she set up her solo production venture ‘Hashtag, You’re It’, where she creates multi-platform content for networks, production houses, agencies, brands and artists. In addition to assisting with the launch of Instagram’s own video channel, she has directed and produced for YouTube, Comedy Central, NBC-Universal, ABC, Getty Images, iHeart Radio, TLC, Ford, BMW Films, Red Bull, Google, Vevo, to name a few and a multitude of high profiled musicians including DJ Khaled and Katy Perry. Nicole successfully directed 4 x TVCs and the live stream for iHeartRadio and Snapchat’s reveal of the new Ford EcoSport which became one of the most successful and most socially shared product launches of 2016.
She is a recipient of over 60 film festival awards and is currently developing a number of projects including the True Crime Limited Series Dr Boyle about the self titled notorious murderer and Tiger Fish a documentary on the inspiring quadriplegic golfer James Gribble. Nicole will make her scripted television debut in 2020 with the adaptation of Richard Hain’s best selling novel Chameleon.
